I stepped away from my chronic pain and you can too!

Pain Reprocessing Therapy is a scientifically PROVEN treatment for HEALING Chronic Pain.

“Sometimes the brain can make a mistake and interpret danger when there is none, so we can feel pain when there is no injury or disease. The pain is 100% real, but the danger isn’t. “Alan Gordon

Pain is a danger signal, when you touch a hot stove, the pain is your brain’s way of letting you know that you must move your hand.

Neuroplastic Pain (NP) is known by other names, Mind/Body Syndrome, Somatic Illness, TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome), Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Psychological Stress Syndrome, and quite a few others ………. They are all used interchangeably.

Laurie’s Story of Chronic Pain

After almost a decade of idiosyncratic foot pain, I heard a podcast that was about to change my life.

I had been suffering from a strange feeling in my feet, like someone had jammed an icicle through my metatarsals.  I’ve always been one to embrace complementary and alternative medicine, so I tried Acupuncture, Cranio-Sacral, Rolfing, Reflexology, Chiropractic, Laser Therapy, Physical therapy and more. When those did not work, I saw a neurologist for a nerve study, Rheumatologist to rule out scleroderma, arthritis and lupus, podiatrist, and more. No one had a clue how to help me.

I heard this podcast with Alan Gordon describing Neuroplastic pain. NP occurs when there may have been a sensation, an injury or a trauma. That injury, etc heals but it fails to notify your brain. So, the brain continues to send messages of danger to the body part in question.

After hearing the podcast I immediately ordered the book:  The Way Out, I looked up the Pain Psychology Center’s list of therapists and scheduled an appointment with a therapist in my area ASAP!

I started to have relief after one session and quickly learned the skills to use when my foot pain flared.  After a couple months it became very clear that I need to do this training to help other chronic pain sufferers.

Given that I have spent most of my career helping people by teaching them to reframe various situations, adding PRT was an organic evolution.

I look forward to helping you Step Away From Your Pain too!
